Brittney Griner Featured in Sports Illustrated

Dec. 18, 2009

WACO, Texas - Baylor freshman post Brittney Griner is featured in the latest issue of Sports Illustrated. In the Dec. 21 issue, Kelli Anderson writes that the 6-8 Griner "possesses an unprecedented combination of size, skill, speed and shooting touch - and a dazzling repertoire of dunks."

The three-page spread, one of which is a full page picture of Griner swatting away a Louisiana Tech shot, has quotes from Baylor head coach Kim Mulkey and assistant coach Leon Barmore, Tennessee head coach Pat Summitt and Texas A&M head coach Gary Blair, among others.

The article on Griner can be viewed on pages 58-60.

This is believed to be Baylor's first student-athlete profile since Michael Johnson and the longest story on Baylor since the Lady Bears won the NCAA championship in 2005.
