Baylor Hosts UT-Pan American to Close Out Non-Conference Slate...
The second-ranked Baylor Lady Bears, 12-1 on the season, bring their nine-game win streak into the contest with UT-Pan American on Thursday, Dec. 30. The game marks Baylor's final non-conference game of the regular season.

Baylor is led on the season by sophomore post Brittney Griner's 21.8 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. Freshman guard Odyssey Sims follows with 12.4 points a contest while senior guard Melissa Jones averages 9.7 points a game. Sophomore forward/post Brooklyn Pope is the team's second-leading rebounder with 7.1 a game and scores 8.8 points an outing.

UT-Pan American is 7-7 on the season prior to a Tuesday, Dec. 28, home game against Sam Houston State.

• Under head coach Kim Mulkey, Baylor is 65-2 (.970) all-time in December, including a 40-0 Ferrell Center record during that period.

Their seven wins have come against Our Lady of the Lake (72-61), Texas Southern (70-62), Texas A&M-CC (70-57), Texas A&M-Kingsville (90-68), North Texas (77-74) and Texas A&M-International (83-76). UTPA's losses have come against Oklahoma (116-66), Prairie View A&M (84-63), Gardner Webb (82-54), Stephen F. Austin (96-67), UT-Arlington (81-72), Texas (112-59) and Wichita State (95-55).

Sims Simply Superb...
• Freshman point guard Odyssey Sims has scored in double digits in nine of the last 10 games: 17 vs. UConn, 10 vs. Michigan State, 11 vs. Texas Southern, 12 vs. Liberty, 10 vs. SLU, 11 vs. Notre Dame, 13 vs. Minnesota, a team-leading 24 against Tennessee, nine vs. Clemson and a career-high 25 against Syracuse.
• Sims has averaged 14.2 ppg in that 10-game stretch, including hitting 24-of-44 (.546) from three-point range. The 5-9 point guard is averaging 12.4 points on the season.
• She has been named the Big 12's Freshman of the Week the last two weeks (Dec. 20 & Dec. 27).
• Sims was named to the Bahamas Sunsplash Shootout's All-Tournament team.

Sharing the Rock...
• With the departure of senior point guard Kelli Griffin, many wondered who would pick up the slack in the assist column for the Lady Bears, and the answer has been, many players.
• The Lady Bears rank No. 1 in the Big 12 Conference (through games of Dec. 27) in assists with 18.2 per game and No. 15 nationally. Six players have dished out 20 or more assists: Melissa Jones, 44; Odyssey Sims, 35; Kimetria Hayden, 32; Jordan Madden and Lindsay Palmer, 27 each and Terran Condrey, 21.

Improvement From Beyond the Arc...
• Last season the Lady Bears finished No. 12 in the Big 12 Conference in 3-point field goal percentage at .276 (37-86).
• As of Dec. 27, BU ranks No. 2 in the league and No. 12 nationally with a .390 (80-205) mark. Through 13 games, the Lady Bears have more than doubled their total (37) of last season.
