Cindy Walquist is in her eight season as an assistant coach on the Baylor equestrian coaching staff, joining the program in August of 2010.
Walquist works with the western squad, helping to lead the unit to continued and increasing success throughout her tenure at Baylor.
In the 2016-17 season, her reining group finished 11-5-1, including a six-meet win streak that helped lead to the program's No. 1 ranking in the national polls as a team. Horsemanship posted an 8-6-3 record, marking wins over OSU (3), Auburn, TCU, SMU, Fresno State, and SDSU.
She is a life-time member of AQHA and PHBA and has been in the horse training industry for 30 years. During her time, Walquist has coached 30 All-American Quarter Horse Congress Champions and 12 AQHYA Champions in addition to being a Congress Champion herself.
Her daughter, Whitney Walquist Vicars, has been a World Champion in six events as well, winning the 2007 All Around Youth of the All American Congress. Walquist has coached champions in showmanship, horsemanship, western pleasure, trail and western riding.
She and her husband, Bruce, own and operate Walquist Quarter Horses in Cleburne, Texas, along with their son-in-law, Craig Vicars.
