Riding in its second straight road competition, Baylor's equestrian team dropped a 13-7 decision to Georgia on Sunday. With the loss, the Bears saw their season record drop to 4-9 while Georgia moves to 8-2.

Baylor and Georgia were tied after the first two events, Equitation over Fences and Horsemanship, each posting a 3-2 victory. However, Georgia took the decisive lead by sweeping the next English event, Equitation on the Flat, 5-0.

Georgia edged Baylor 6-4 in Western events but Baylor riders Madelyn Mooney and Nicole McCoy swept Western MVP honors. Mooney earned the honor with a 71 point ride in Reining and McCoy netted a 70 in Horsemanship to claim the prize in Horsemanship. McCoy has now garnered three straight Horsemanship MVPs while Mooney chalked up her fourth of the season. Also earning points for the Bears were Allison Orosz in Horsemanship and McCoy in Reining.

In Equitation Over Fences, Baylor winners were Beth Banister, Nicole Brown and Heather Healy.

The Bears are in action again next Friday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. when they host Kansas State. Baylor will also host Fresno State on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 10 a.m. Both competitions will be held at the Willis Family Equestrian Center.
