No. 4 Equestrian Splits On The Road

AtHENS, Ga. - The No. 4 Baylor Equestrian team (7-3) suffered its second loss of the spring season, losing 13-6 to No. 3 Georgia (9-1) Saturday morning in Athens, Ga.

The meet began with a 4-1 Baylor loss in Fences. Kara Fergusson (77) earned the point for the Bears.

Baylor continued the meet with a 3-2 victory in Flat, leaving the Hunter Seat team undefeated on the season. Taylor Brown (78) earned a point for the bears as well as MVP honors. Kara Fergusson (82) and Kim Woodsum (75) also contributed points for the win.

The Hunter Seat loss was the first of the year for BU.

Georgia continued their lead 9-6 after a 3-2 win in Horsemanship. Paris Rice (72.5) and Rachel Nankervis (72) both earned points for BU.

The meet ended with a 4-0 win for Georgia in Reining.

Coming out of a loss to Georgia, No.4 Baylor took on Fresno State winning the meet 9-8 Saturday afternoon in Athens.

The meet started with a 3-2 Baylor win in Fences. Sue Carol Thompson (77), Lisa Goldman (79) and Ashley Goldman (71) all earned points for the bears.

The Bears continued strong with a 3-2 victory in Fences, leaving the Hunter Seat team undefeated on the season. Taylor Brown (78) earned MVP honors with Kara Fergusson (72) and Melanie Appel (78) also earning points for Baylor.

Holding a two point lead, the teams tied 2-2 in Horsemanship. Parris Rice (78) earned MVP honors and Rachel Nankervis (72) contributed a point as well.

 

 

The meet ended with a 2-1 loss for the bears in Reining. Barbara Aitken (71.5) earned the point for the bears as well as MVP honors.

The Bears continue their weekend on Sunday against No. 5 South Carolina on Sunday in Columbia, S.C.
