Baylor's equestrian team moved to a 4-6 season record with its win Saturday afternoon over Auburn at the Willis Family Equestrian Center. The Bears defeated the Tigers 12-7 overall, Western earned eight points while English recorded four.
Baylor's Western team earned eight of 10 total points in the Horsemanship and Reining events. Miss Gonzalez was the Horsemanship MVP with her 75-point ride on Fella. Ashleigh Brown (73), Amanda Graber (74.5) and Lindsey Tomko (73) also tallied points for the Bears. Auburn's Whitney Kimble (69.5) earned the Tigers' solo point.
In Reining Baylor continued to dominate and closed out the show recording four more points to Auburn's one. Nicole McCoy earned Reining MVP honors with her 70.5-point ride on LE. Madelyn Mooney (68), Valtie Riddle (64) and Tomko (64) helped Baylor clinch the victory with wins. Tomko was the only Bear to earn a point in both her rides. The Tigers' only point came from Lyndsey Jordan's 67.5-point ride.
English events didn't fare as well for the Bears earning only four of the possible 10 points. On the Flat, Baylor scored two points, one a piece from Shelby White and Nicole Brown. White was the event's MVP and earned the show's highest score on Maverick.
Equitation on the Flat posted two BU points as Mary Smitson (70) and Analisa Muti (76) scored for the Bears. Auburn's Natalie Burton was awarded MVP with her 79-point ride on Hannah.
Baylor's English team will compete in one final home show on March 24 against Sacred Heart. The entire team will return to action March 31 at the Big 12 Invitational hosted by Texas A&M in College State, Texas.
