The No. 6 Baylor Equestrian team (9-4) finished their home season with a 15-7 victory over No. 7 Kansas State (5-5) Saturday afternoon at the Willis Family Equestrian Center.
"We had some frisky horses in this cold weather," head coach Ellen White said. "But, really it was a good job by all. Flat did an excellent job as always, and Western, what a fabulous day for them. I am so excited."
The meet began with a 4-2 win for Kansas State in Fences. Ashley Ann McGehee's 86 was the highest score in the discipline, while Lisa Goldman (81) also earned a point for the Bears.
The Bears came back with a two-point lead after defeating KSU 5-1 in Reining. Claire Edwards (72) earned MVP honors with Katherine Berg (71), Olivia Rogers (71.5), Amber Mooney (70) and Parris Rice (71) also contributing points for the win.
Baylor continued their lead with a 4-2 win in Horsemanship. Blair Bergeson (73.5) earned MVP honors, while Parris Rice (76), Ashley Garza (75.5) and Bryn Lindley (71.5) also earned points for Baylor.
Baylor wrapped up the meet with a 4-2 victory in Flat, making the final score 16-7 and leaving the Hunter Seat team undefeated at home. Taylor Brown (86), Sue Carol Thompson (73), Lisa Goldman (79) and Kim Woodsum (79) all won points for the Bears.
The Bears will head to College Station next Saturday to take on No. 3 Texas A&M.
