The No.7 Baylor Equestrian team (4-3) snapped a three-match winning streak with a 14-6 win against Fresno State (0-2) Friday afternoon at the Willis Family Equestrian Center.
"The girls rode well they did a great job," said head coach Ellen White. "We're starting to solidify our lineup, put everything together and finalizing it all. The freshmen did a great job today and everyone just rode really well."
The meet began with a 4-1 Baylor victory in Fences. AshleyAnn McGehee (73), Paige Parker (79), Sue Carol Thompson (84) and Samantha Schaefer (86) all earned points for the Bears.
Baylor held a 6-4 lead, even with a 3-2 loss to the Bulldogs in Reining. Olivia Rogers (74) earned MVP honors, while Shelby Jackson (71) also contributed a point.
Continuing its lead, BU defeated Fresno State 4-1 in Flat. Taylor Brown's 86 earned MVP honors with Jenny Mitchell (77), Paige Parker (81) and Samantha Shaefer (80) all earning points for the Bears.
Holding an eight-point advantage, Baylor wrapped up the meet win with a 4-1 victory in Horsemanship. Mary Brown (76) earned MVP honors, with Rachel Nankervis (76.5), Parris Rice (80.5) and Bryn Lindley (78) rounding out the points.
The season will continue for the Bears next Saturday and Sunday when they take on No.2 South Carolina (10 am) and No.8 TCU (1 pm) at the Willis Family Equestrian Center.
