Feb. 5, 2014

WACO, Texas - The No. 2 Baylor equestrian team begins the second half of the 2013-14 season Saturday against Delaware State at 1 p.m. at the Willis Family Equestrian Center.

The Bears enter the spring portion of the season with a 5-2 overall record and losses only to No. 8 TCU and No. 3 Auburn.

"We have a tough season ahead of us," said Baylor head coach Ellen White. "We had a lot of time off, but we are ready to get back to it. I have a lot of confidence in our girls."

This spring, the Bears will play host to both Big 12 Championships (March 28-29) and the NCEA national championships (April 17-19).

Baylor will resume its Big 12 schedule at Kansas State Feb. 28, and at Oklahoma State March 1 prior to the conference championships.

"We are going up against tough competition away from home," White said. "But, I keep looking toward the end goal of the national championship. Everything else is getting us prepared for that moment."

Baylor was the NCEA national champion in 2011.

DSU comes into Saturday's competition with a 1-6 record.
