The No. 8 Baylor Equestrian team will travel to Fresno, Calif. to compete in the Best of the West Tournament hosted by Fresno State University on Saturday and Sunday at the Student Horse Center.
"It's always exciting to go on the road," head coach Ellen White said. "We are facing some excellent teams we will see at National Championships, so it will be very good experience for us."
No. 5 TCU, No. 6 South Carolina and Fresno State are among the competitors at this year's tournament. Baylor lost to South Carolina 12-6 on Jan. 30, while the Feb. 4 competition between the Bears and the Horned Frogs was canceled due to inclement weather.
The Bears are coming off of a 5-2 victory over SMU and an 8-0 victory over Sacred Heart on Feb. 19. Baylor is currently 8-6 for the season and has one more regular season competition against SMU before heading to the Big 12 Tournament that will be hosted in College Station, TX.
The Bulldogs have hosted and won four straight Best of the West tournaments, all held at the Student Horse Center. They are coming into this weekend's competition having just competed in the Winter Equestrian Festival where they defeated SMU and lost by one against TCU.
TCU (5-0) is coming off a 10-9 victory over Fresno State and South Carolina (4-6) was defeated by Auburn, 10-9.
The tournament will begin at 1 p.m. on both days.
