WACO, Texas -
Baylor's equestrian team will host Sacred Heart Saturday at the Willis Family Equestrian Center for an English discipline-only show. The Bears will compete against the Pioneers at 10 a.m. and then follow with an English Baylor Green versus Baylor Gold scrimmage. Overall Baylor owns a 6-7 record this year including an English 7-4-2 mark and Western 3-8-2 mark.
Saturday's show will feature two English events, Equitation on the Flat and Equitation over Fences, both performed in the covered arena.
Baylor and Sacred Heart met last year at the 2006 Varsity Equestrian National Championship hosted by New Mexico State University in Albuquerque, N.M. The Bears defeated the Pioneers 737-657 as raw scores were used to determine show winners. BU's Flat riders outscored Sacred Heart by 83 points (351-268) and Shelby White earned high-point rider status in the event with her 119-point ride. The Pioneers earned three more points than the Bears in Fences rides (389-386) but Nicole Brown was the event's high-point rider with her 161-point ride.
Full show results will be available at www.baylorbears.com upon the completion of the Baylor-Sacred Heart competition.
