EQ Has Dozen Earn NCEA National Academic Awards

Shelbey Jackson was among the 12 Baylor Bears honored by the NCEA for academics and performance

WACO, Texas - Baylor had 12 athletes named to the NCEA National Academic Team this week including two first teamers, Shelbey Jackson and Ashley Ann McGehee.

To qualify for the Academic first team, Jackson and McGehee had to compete in 70 percent of Baylor's meets during the 2013-14 season and must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5.

Katherine Berg, Gillian Chant, Bryn Lindley, Rachel Nankervis and Parris Ricewere second-teamers, and in order to qualify, riders must have competed in 60 percent of her team's meets while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.25.

Five Bears earned honorable mention all-America including Mary Brown, Claire Edwards, Jennifer Mitchell, Samantha Schaefer and Paige Parker. Honorable mention requirements included 50 percent participation and a cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Baylor will compete in the NCEA National Championships April 17-19 in Waco.
