Two members of the Baylor equestrian team earned three All-American awards, the National Collegiate Equestrian Association announced.
Sophomore Samantha Schaefer headlined the Hunter Seat class as one of only two athletes named in both Fences and Flat. Schaefer went 14-2 in Flat and 15-2 in Fences on the year and helped guide the Hunter Seat team to a No. 1 overall seed at the NCEA Championship.
Junior Shelbey Jackson earned second-team All American honors in Reining after posting an 11-4 mark on the year. The award was the first of the career for Jackson.
The Bears will be back in action beginning on Thursday for the NCEA National Championships, April 18-20 at the Extraco Event Center in Waco. The Western team opens as the No. 8 seed, taking on No. 9 Auburn beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. The Hunter Seat team earned a first-round bye and will begin competition on Friday at 9 a.m.
