Equestrian Hires Western Coach

Cindy Walquist has been hired as the new western coach, head coach Ellen White announced Tuesday. Walquist brings 30 years of experience to the position.

"We are thrilled to have a coach of Cindy's caliber on our team," White said. "Her skills will put our team in a position to continue our success and propel us towards our goal of a national championship."

Walquist is a life-time member of AQHA and PHBA and has been in the horse training industry for 30 years. During her time, Walquist has coached 30 All-American Quarter Horse Congress Champions and 12 AQHYA Champions in addition to being a Congress Champion herself. Her daughter, Whitney Walquist Vicars, has been a World Champion in two events as well, winning the 2007 All Around Youth of the All American Congress. Walquist has coached champions in showmanship, horsemanship, western pleasure, trail and western riding. She and her husband, Bruce, own and operate Walquist Quarter Horses in Cleburne, Texas, along with their son-in-law, Craig Vicars.
