The Bears have won five-straight Willis Invitationals

WACO, Texas - The No. 7-ranked Baylor equestrian team will host its sixth annual Willis Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Willis Family Equestrian Center. The Bears will take on New Mexico State, South Dakota State and Tennessee-Martin. The meet will begin at 10 a.m. both days, and the outdoor events will be moved to the covered areas due to impending weather.
Both South Dakota State and UT-Martin are ranked in the top 10 in the NCEA Preseason Rankings. South Dakota State is ranked right behind Baylor at No. 8 and UT-Martin is not far behind at No. 10
Baylor is currently the five-time reigning champion of the Willis Invitational. Last year, the Bears beat Miami (Ohio)/ Ohio State 12-4 in their first day and finished by defeating Delaware State, 13-2 and NMSU, 11-5.
Due to recent rain and a chance of rain on Saturday, the entire meet will be held in the indoor arena. The meet will begin with BU taking on NMSU while UTM goes head to head with SDSU.
On Friday, the teams will compete in fences, reining, horsemanship and flat in round one. Next, Baylor will take on UTM while NMSU takes on SDSU in the events of Horsemanship, Flat and Reining.
Saturday, the teams will continue round two with fences, and then move forward to round three where Baylor will take on SDSU while NMSU and UT-Martin matchup.
