The No. 5 Baylor equestrian team (3-0) will hit the road for the first time this season for a pair of conference competitions, facing No. 7 Kansas State (1-1) on Friday at 10:00 a.m. and No. 6 Oklahoma State (0-2) Saturday at 10:00 a.m. This will mark the fourth-straight season the Bears have opened conference play against the Wildcats.
"It's always tough going on the road in conference play because of the quality of teams," head coach Ellen White said. "We know we have a little target on our back after how last season ended so we need to be ready every time we ride."
The Bears are coming off their fifth-consecutive Willis Invitational title, which was won on Sept. 22 in Waco.
K-State is coming off its opening weekend, which saw the Hunt Seat team tie SMU 5-5, but drop the meet on overall point total (793-732). The Wildcats bounced back in their second meet to defeat UT-Martin, 13-7.
The Cowgirls are 0-2 on the season after last weekend's competition with Auburn and South Carolina. However the western team is 2-0, defeating Auburn on Friday, 5-4, and South Carolina in raw scores, 663.5- 638.
Baylor went 2-1 against the Wildcats and 0-2 against the Cowgirls a year ago.
