WACO, Texas - The No. 7 Baylor equestrian team will compete in its first road meet of the season against No. 8 TCU on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Springtown, Texas.
The Bears are coming off their capture of the Willis Invitational last weekend where they defeated No. 10 New Mexico State, No. 9 Tennessee-Martin and South Dakota State University to begin the season at 3-0.
"We are looking forward to our first away match of the year to a worthy opponent," said Baylor head coach Ellen White. "We have a few freshmen that will be competing for the first time. It is always an eye-opening experience for them. We have the talent to win, but they will have to bring their game to beat a strong team on their own horses."
Last weekend, Baylor not only won their sixth Willis Invitational, but the team also had nine MOP winners out of a possible 12, chosen by the judges. Alicia Gasser and Bryn Lindley each won two MOP's apiece.
TCU is ranked right behind Baylor, but has yet to compete in a meet this season. At the end of the season last year, the Horned Frogs were ranked No. 2 in the Big 12. The last time Baylor and TCU competed head-to-head was in the 2013 Big 12 Championships in Waco where the Bears defeated the Horned Frogs, 10-6 March 30.
