The Bears will look to move to 2-1 in Big 12 competition vs. OSU Saturday
Oct. 25, 2013
WACO, Texas - Baylor’s 15-5 win over Kansas State Oct. 19, propelled the Bears to a No. 4 ranking in Friday’s NCEA poll, just in time for Baylor to play host to No. 7 Oklahoma State Saturday. The Bears and Cowgirls will square off Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Willis Family Equestrian Center.
Baylor’s one blemish this season came to Big 12 foe TCU Oct. 5, but the Bears are 4-1 entering Saturday’s meet with three wins over ranked teams. After the win over KSU, the Bears are 1-1 in Big 12 play and will look to get over the .500 mark against the Cowboys.
“OSU has always been our biggest rival. They have always been the ones we have to beat. They are tough competition, and we have to be on our ‘A’ game,” said Baylor head coach Ellen White. “I have total confidence that we can beat them, but we have to be totally with it and put our best foot forward. OSU’s only other meet has been a loss to Kansas State and I know they do not want to have two meets with two losses so I know they have a lot riding on this.”
The last time the Bears and the Cowgirls met in a head-to-head meet was at last year’s Big 12 Championship. OSU defeated Baylor 8-7 and advanced onto the final round of the championship.
Prior to their defeat at the Big 12 Championship, Baylor beat OSU 10-10 in a tiebreaker in regular-season competition, Feb. 23.
