WACO, Texas - The No. 1-ranked Baylor Equestrian team will take on No. 3 Auburn, Friday at Noon at the Willis Family Equestrian Center.
The Tigers come in with a 3-1 record and will be competing on the road for the first time this season. The Bears, 5-1, are coming off a 12-8 victory against Oklahoma State, Oct. 26. The meet will mark the last of the fall semester before resuming the season in February for Baylor.
"We have been working hard getting ready for Auburn," said Baylor head coach Ellen White. "It's great going in No. 1, but now everyone is gunning for us. We are working hard to make sure we live up to it."
The Bears are coming off an exciting week for their riders. Baylor had three athletes with excellent showings at the annual American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) World Championship Show Oklahoma City. Parris Rice, Gillian Chant and Rachel Nankervis all represented Baylor well at the show where Rice won world championships in showmanship and equitation.
And, furthering their accomplishments, Baylor jumped three spots in Monday's NCEA rankings, surpassing Georgia, Auburn and South Carolina for the No. 1 position in the nation.
The Bears will also be out for vengeance after Auburn defeated Baylor twice in the 2013 NCEA National Championships in Waco, April 18 in western and April 20 in hunt seat.
