GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Baylor's women's golf team finished in eighth place on Tuesday at the University Golf Course (301-303-309=913). The 2003 SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational is the third tournament this spring in which the Bears have had a top-10 finish. Host school Florida took the title after carding a three-round score of 873 (293-294-286)
The Bears, ranked 30th nationally by Golfstat, were led by senior Hanna-Sofia Sevenningsson with a third-day score of 75, placing her tied for 18th place (73-77-75=225).
Coming in second for the Bears was senior Melanie Hagewood who tied at 26th (79-72-77=228). Junior Kelli McKandless finished tied for 34th place (70-78-81=229). Freshman Josefin Svenningsson shot a final-round 79 putting her tied for 47th place (79-76-79=234). After shooting a 78 today, junior Michaelyn Morgan finished the tournament tied for 67th place (81-81-78=240).
Rounding out the top-five finishers of the 16-team field were Florida (293-294-286=873), Tennessee (289-303-288=880), Tulane (289-307-300=896) Florida State (295-300-302=897) and Michigan State (302-295-306=903).
The Bears are set to host the 2003 Tapatio Spring Shootout March 23-25 in San Antonio.
