BRYAN, Texas - The Baylor women's golf team rebounded from a rough opening round to fire the fourth-lowest round of day with a 305 during round two to move up to seventh at the Texas A&M Mo-Morial at the 6,307-yard, par-72 Traditions Golf Club.
Senior Josefin Svenningsson (Gislaved, Sweden) moved up to a tie for 10th firing a 73 for a total of 153. Svenningsson carded three birdies as she bounced back from yesterday's 80.
Senior Meredith Jones (Eugene, Ore.) also posted a 1-over par 73, which also included three birdies. Jones is tied for 13th at 155 after an 82 Friday.
Junior Allison Martin (Bakersfield, Calif.) followed her first-round 81 with an 80 and is tied for 37th at 161. Junior Sherry Summers (Montgomery, Texas) is tied for 45th at 162 with rounds of 82 and 80. Junior Anna Rehnholm is tied for 56th at 165, shooting a 79 after a first-round 86.
Texas A&M's Ashley Knoll leads the individual competition at even-par 144, shooting 74 and 70. She leads UTEP's Julianne Kim (72-74) and SMU's Kristina Rothengatter (74-72) by two strokes at 146.
Arkansas (307-301=608) leads Texas A&M (306-304=610) by two strokes, as the two teams are well ahead of the rest of the field, where places third through seventh are only separated by four strokes. SMU is third at 626 (317-209), TCU is fourth at 627 (318-309), Oklahoma is fifth at 628 (315-313) and Tulsa is sixth at 629 (325-304). The Bears are only one stroke behind Tulsa at 630 (325-305).
The tournament concludes with the third round Sunday.
