AUSTIN, Texas -
Baylor's women's golf team is in first place after the first round of play at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Classic hosted by the University of Texas. The tournament is being held at the Great Hills Golf Club in Austin. The course is a 5,928-yard, par 72.
The Bears, ranked 27th nationally by Golfstat, were led by freshman Michaelyn Morgan who shot an opening round 72.
Rounding out the individual scoring for the Bears were sophomore Melanie Hagewood who shot a 74, sophomore Hanna Sofia Svenningson shot 75, and junior Tara Bateman carded a 77.
The Bears finished in the top 10 of all five tournaments last 2000 season, including a victory at the Michigan Fall Invitational in September 2000. Next up for the Bears is the Baylor-Iowa San Antonio Spring Shootout hosted by Baylor and the University of Iowa.
