AUSTIN, Texas - The Baylor women's golf team finished second in a triangular match hosted by Texas on Sunday afternoon at the 6,635-yard, par-71 University of Texas Golf Course. BU shot 34-over-par 318 to finish nine strokes back of Texas.

The triangular match, a one-day, 18-hole tournament, was added to the schedule due to a rain cancelation during the Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate earlier this spring season. The Lady Bears competed alongside tournament host Texas and SMU. Texas (+25; 309) led the event, while SMU (+41; 325) finished third, 16 strokes back of UT and seven back of Baylor.

"The reason we decided to come down and play at UT Golf Course when we ended up having an extra tournament day is because UT will be hosting the Big 12 Championship next spring," head coach Jay Goble said. "I thought it would be a great opportunity for the team to get a feel for the golf course since most of these girls will play the event next year."

Hayley Davis (+6; 77) led Baylor and finished third overall. Katelyn Sepmoree (+2; 73) and Desiree Dubreuil (+5; 76), both from Texas, finished in the top two spots.

Annette Lyche and Lauren Taylor both shot 8-over-par 79. Emma Carberry (+12; 83) and Laura Lonardi (+13; 84) were also part of the BU lineup, and Natalia Perez (+10; 81) competed as an individual.

"We had a great practice round yesterday with perfect weather and today we played in really tough conditions," Goble said. "It was a completely different golf course with 15-30 mph winds. Even though the weather was at its toughest the day we had to count our scores, I think this will really help the team in the future. Nothing will surprise us when we come back next year. Also, it only keeps us preparing for the end of our season, where we will play in tough courses and conditions."

The Lady Bears will be back in action April 5-7 when they compete in the Rebel Intercollegiate in Oxford, Miss. The Rebel Intercollegiate will be Baylor's last regular season tournament before the Big 12 Championship.
