NORMAN, Okla - Baylor's women's golf team is currently in fifth place after carding a two-round 639 on Monday (327-312). Today was the first of the two-day Susie Maxwell Berning Classic hosted by Oklahoma. The tournament is being played at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Course (par 72, 5,910 yards) in Norman, Okla.
The Bears, ranked 27th nationally by Golfstat, are led by senior Melanie Hagewood who is currently tied for fourth place with two other participants (76-76=152). She is currently tied with Lisa Meldrum of Oklahoma (76-76=152) and Maria Jose Hurtado of Arkansas-Little Rock (79-73=152).
Senior Hanna-Sofia Svenningsson (83-79=162) and junior Kelli McKandless (85-77=162) are currently tied for 27th place. Freshman Josefin Svenningsson carded a two-round total of 163 (83-80); she is currently tied for 33rd place. Junior Michaelyn Morgan came in tied for 65th place after shooting a two-round total of 170 (85-85).
The Bears trail host Oklahoma (301-303=604), Texas Tech (319-306=625), Arkansas-Little Rock (323-308=631) and Texas A&M (325-312=637).
The Bears are set to play their final round of play Tuesday at 8:00 a.m.
