OXFORD, Miss. - The Baylor women's golf team finished its last regular season tournament of the year with a second place finish at the Rebel Intercollegiate at Ole Miss Golf Course. Hayley Davis finished in second place individually after shooting a personal-best 7-under-par 209.

"Overall, I am pretty happy about our last round going into Big 12 Championship," head coach Jay Goble said. "I think we ended today on a pretty high note in that everyone played a little bit better."

The Lady Bears shot 2-over-par 290 in Sunday's final round. Baylor (+8, 872) edged out third place Tulane (+14, 878) by six strokes, and finished nine shots behind tournament champion Coastal California (-1, 863). East Tennessee State (+17, 881) and Kentucky (+22, 886) finished in fourth and fifth, respectively.

Davis (-7, 209) recorded her seventh top-10 finish in nine tournaments played this season. She has finished in first or second place in seven of 19 regular-season tournaments during her two-year Baylor career. Jessica Alexander (-8, 208) of Coastal Carolina came from behind to earn medalist honors by one stroke over Davis.

"Hayley did not have the putts drop quite like she did the rest of the week and that was the difference in her finishing first and second," Goble said. "It was still the lowest score that she has ever shot in a tournament, which is pretty exciting."

Laura Lonardi (+2, 218) also set a personal-best in a 54-hole tournament, shooting seven strokes lower than her previous 54-hole record. Lonardi's final-round 71 was three strokes better than her previous best, and she tied for eighth place with three other players. Annette Lyche (+8, 224) and Lauren Taylor (+8, 224) tied for 28th place, and Emma Carberry (+10, 226) tied for 38th place. Natalia Perez (+10, 226) tied with Carberry in 38th place, though Perez was playing as an individual.

"Laura Lonardi had her best tournament in college so far," Goble said. "She is very close to playing some really good golf."

Baylor next competes in the Big 12 Championship, which runs April 19-21 in Ames, Iowa. BU finished in third place at last year's Big 12 Championship in Lawrence, Kan., and Davis tied for second individually.
