The 32nd ranked Baylor womens golf team finished second after posting scores of 300-299-311 (910) at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic. The tournament was hosted by Oklahoma at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Course.
The Bears were led individually by junior Melanie Hagewood who posted rounds of 71-73-76 (220) to give her second place honors.
Rounding out the individual scoring for Baylor, senior Tara Bateman shot 223 (74-71-78) for the fourth place tie, sophomore Michaelyn Morgan tied for 12th place after shooting 80-74-74 (228). Junior Hanna-Sofia Svenningsson carded rounds of 77-77-79 (233) for the 26th place tie and senior Nicole Johnson tied for 40th place after rounds of 78-78-82 (238)
Oklahoma took the tournament victory after posting 877 followed by Baylor (910), Nebraska (916), Arkansas-Little Rock (916), and Texas A&M (920)
The Bears have finished in the top five in eight of their 10 tournaments this season with two tournament victories in the fall.
Next up for the Bears is a trip to the Big 12 Championships April 19-21 at the Colbert Hills Golf Course in Manhattan, Kansas. The Bears finished third at the Big 12 Championships last year.
