WACO, Texas - The 36th-ranked Baylor women's golf team shot a first round 308 to tie for second after the first day of competition at the Big 12 Championship at the 6,142 yard, par-72 Ridgewood Country Club in Waco, Texas.

Freshman Natalie Hocott (San Antonio, Texas) fired a first round 3-over par 75 to tie for fifth to lead the Bears.

Junior Sian Reddick (Folkestone, England) and freshman Hannah Burke (Hertfordshire, England) carded a 77 to tie for 15th. Senior Allison Martin (Bakersfield, Calif.) shot a 79 to tie for 30th, while senior Anna Rehnholm (Karlskrona, Sweden) tied for 44th with a first round 81.

"Natalie has been getting better all spring. Her swing has become more competitive and she played really well today. I am extremely proud of her," said head coach Sylvia Ferdon.

Texas A&M shot a 300 to lead the overall team standings by eight strokes over Oklahoma State, Baylor and Colorado. Amanda Costner of Kansas fired a first round 71 to lead the individual standings by one stroke Texas A&M's Christa Spedding.
