Waco, Texas -

The 36th-ranked Baylor women's golf team shot a 311 to tie for third with a 36-hole total 619 after the second day of competition at the Big 12 Championship at the 6,142 yard, par-72 Ridgewood Country Club in Waco, Texas.

 

Junior Sian Reddick (Folkestone, England) and freshman Hannah Burke  (Hertfordshire, England) shot a second round 77 to lead the Bears tied for ninth at 154 (77-77=154).

 

Freshman Natalie Hocott (San Antonio, Texas) shot an 80 for the day to tie for 13th with a 36-hole total 155 (75-80). Senior Allison Martin (Bakersfield, Calif.) shot her second straight 79 for the tournament to tie for 24th at 158 (79-79), while senior Anna Rehnholm (Karlskrona, Sweden) improved to tie for 36th with a two-round total 160 (81-79).


 

 

 

"The conditions were tough throughout the day. We thought it was clear up, but the mist stayed all day long. The greens looked like they were going to be slow, but they stayed somewhat fast. I thought we hung in there okay," said head coach Sylvia Ferdon.

 

Oklahoma State leads the overall team standings at 611 (308-303) by four strokes over Texas A&M and eight strokes over Baylor and Nebraska. Amanda Costner of Kansas fired a second round 73 for a 36-hole total 144 (71-73) to stay in the lead in the individual standings by seven strokes over Oklahoma State's Sarah Bradley and Nebraska's Elli Brown.

 

The tournament continues with its final round Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. CDT. The tournament can be followed live on golfstat.com.
