Big 12 Women's Golf Championship Second Round Results in PDF Format
NORMAN, Okla. – Senior Hannah Burke is tied for fourth after carding a 1-under 71 Saturday and the Baylor women’s golf team is ninth after two rounds of the Big 12 Championship. The Lady Bears are at 37-over (312-301=613) through 36 holes, one shot behind eighth-place Missouri.
No. 26 Oklahoma State expanded its first-round lead to 10 strokes after two rounds. No. 29 Texas is second overall at 23-over, followed by No. 25 Texas A&M and Kansas State in a tie for third at 24-over.
“The back nine tripped us up again,” Baylor head women’s golf coach Sylvia Ferdon said. “Everyone made the turn looking good, but we made some double-bogey mistakes over our last seven holes.”
Oklahoma State’s Caroline Hedwall and Victoria Park are currently in first and second, respectively, atop the individual standings. Hedwall leads at 7-under 137 – four shots ahead of teammate Park at 3-under 141. Kansas State’s Morgan Moon is third overall at 2-over 146.
“On days like today, we just need to learn to grind out a bogey instead of a double-bogey and avoid those high numbers,” Ferdon said. “Regardless, I’m proud of their golf score today. I think if we come out and do the same thing Sunday, we’ll move up the leaderboard.”
Burke carded four birdies to three bogeys during Saturday’s second round to finish the day in a four-way tie for fourth place. The Hertfordshire, England, native is on the verge of becoming the first three-time Big 12 All-Tournament selection in Lady Bears program history. A top-five finish Sunday would be her school-record 13th, while a top-10 finish would be a school record-tying 21st.
Sophomore Jaclyn Jansen went 2-over in the second round and is tied for 24th through 36 holes. Jansen opened Saturday with back-to-back birdies, but mid-way through the back nine, she carded a bogey, bogey and double-bogey in successive holes. Lene Hafsten-Morch is tied for 43rd at 12-over (80-76=156) after shooting a second-round 76.
Chelsey Cothran and Karianne Hillaas are both tied for 50th at 17-over.
The final round of the 2010 Big 12 Women’s Golf Championship will begin Sunday at 8 a.m. CDT. Live scoring is available at www.GolfStatResults.com.
