TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Baylor women's golf team is in 18th place after shooting 12-over-par 300 in Friday's second round at the NCAA Division I East Regional at the SouthWood Golf Club. Baylor heads into Saturday's final round with an overall score of 21-over 597.
Hayley Davis led the Lady Bears again in the second round with a score of 1-under-par 71, giving her an overall score of 1-under 143 to put her in a tie for 15th place individually. Louise Gateau-Chovelon was two strokes behind Davis again with a 1-over 73 for an overall score of 3-over 147, putting her in tie for 38th place.
Hadas Libman is in a tie for 92nd place with an overall score of 9-over 153 after shooting 6-over 78 in Friday's second round. Laura Lonardi and Maggie Beth Byers are both tied for 103rd place with overall scores of 11-over 155 after scores of 7-over 79 and 6-over 78, respectively, in Friday's second round.
The top eight teams will advance to the NCAA Championships. Baylor is currently 16 strokes back of current eighth place team Campbell (+5, 581). Additionally, the two lowest-scoring individuals not on advancing teams will earn bids to the NCAA Championships, and Davis is currently tied for fifth among players on teams outside the top eight. Davis is just two strokes back of Florida State's Matilda Castren and Pepperdine's Grace Na (-3, 141), the current lowest-scoring individuals outside the top eight teams.
Davis started her round with consecutive birdies on the 10th and 11th holes, and she also had birdies on the first two holes during her back nine (No. 1 and No. 2).
Both Libman and Gateau-Chovelon shot under par (2-under and 1-under, respectively) on the front nine.
Davis, Libman, Gateau-Chovelon and Byers all had birdies. Davis led the team with five birdies in the round.
Libman had three birdies in a row on No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6, which put her at 5-over and contributed to her 2-under score on the front nine after shooting 8-over on the back nine.
Gateau-Chovelon is tied for fourth in par-3 scoring at 2.88, and Libman is tied for ninth at 3.00.
Davis is tied for seventh in par-5 scoring average at 4.50, and she's also tied for seventh with eight birdies.

"Another tough day for us. We have not been able to get confident on the greens, so it is taking a toll on us," head coach Jay Goble said. "We can shoot a good round out here as a team, and that is going to happen tomorrow. Hayley played solid today and I believe she is going to have a good day tomorrow."
Baylor plays the third and final round of the NCAA Division I East Regional on Saturday. BU players will begin Saturday's final round at 11:15 a.m. CT from the first hole in groups with players from Louisville and East Tennessee State. The Lady Bears will tee off in 11-minute intervals starting with Byers at 11:15 a.m. She'll be followed by Lonardi at 11:26 a.m., Libman at 11:37 a.m., Gateau-Chovelon at 11:48 a.m. and Davis at 11:59 a.m. Live scoring is available on www.GolfStat.com.
