Baylor finished 14th in a 15-team field at the
Franklin Street Trust/Tar Heel Invitational in
Chapel Hill, NC.
Baylor shot rounds of 329-326-324--979 in the
54-hole tournament. Duke, ranked No. 1
nationally, won the team title at
304-292-295--891, easily beating second-place
finisher Tennessee (309-303-300--912).
Baylor's Melanie Hagewood placed 39th to lead the
Bears. She shot 79-81-79--239 over the Governor's
Club 5,909-yard layout. Auburn's Danielle Downey
took medalist honors by shooting two-over
74-71-73--218, just edging Beth Bauer of Duke
(76-73-70--219).
Ali Brewer finished 43rd for the Bears, firing
rounds of 83-82-76--241. Hanna Svennignson shot
84-80-86--250 for 64th, Nicole Johnson carded an
83-84-83--250 for 64th and Jennie Persson shot
87-83-86--256 for 71st.
Baylor will compete in Stetson's University Hatter
Fall Classic Oct. 24-25 in DeLand, Fla.
