FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Led by sophomore Hannah Burke, the Baylor women's golf team holds an 11th place tie following a first round 306 at the 20-team Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic in Fort Collins, Colo.
Burke (Hertfordshire, England) finished the day two strokes above par with a 74 and is currently in a tie for 12th place with nine other golfers.
As a team, the Bears pocketed nine birdies on the day with Burke sinking three of her own.
Chambers had the second-best round for Baylor and holds a one-stroke lead over sophomore teammate Kristen Hendrix (77).
The 2005 Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic co-champion, senior Sian Reddick, began the day one-under through the first two holes before putting in for bogey on holes three through six. Reddick finished the round with a seven-over, 79, and is currently tied for 66th.
Long Beach State's Katy Barrett and California's Pia Halbig and Roseanne Niven all top the individual leaderboard after each carded a one-under, 71, in the first round. California also jumped to the top of the team standings with a seven-stroke lead after an even 288 during day one.
