FORT COLLINS, Colo. -
The Baylor women's golf team finished day one at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic in second place. The fall season-opening event is hosted by Colorado State at the 6,113-yard, par-72 Ptarmigan Country Club.
Senior Josefin Svenningsson leads the Bears and is tied for second at two under par with an opening round 70. Junior Anna Rehnholm had an outstanding first day, and is tied for eighth at one under par.
Sophomore Sian Reddick and Senior Sherry Summers are both tied for 13th with a 73. Senior Meredith Jones finished the day tied for 33rd at three over par.
Colorado State shot a 286 to lead the overall team standings by one stroke over Baylor and five strokes over Long Beach State. Nebraska's Stephanie Ruiz (69) shot three under par for the day and leads the individual standings by one stroke over Long Beach State's Katy Barrett and Kay Hoey, Colorado's Chelsea Benton and Kristina Gillenwater, Arkansas State's Candace Pasechnik, and Baylor's Josefin Svenningsson.
The tournament concludes with the second and final round on Tuesday. The event can be followed live on www.golfstat.com.
