FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Baylor women's golf team sits in ninth place after two rounds of the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic Monday at the Ptarmigan Country Club.

The Lady Bears shot 11-over (288-299=587) and trail the leading Idaho Vandals (8-under 568) by 19 strokes. Host Colorado State is in second at 6-under (281-289=570), followed by Big 12 rival Texas Tech in third at 4-under (287-285=572). New Mexico and Louisville rounded out the top five at 2-over (286-292=578) and 3-over (287-292=579), respectively.

"We had spurts of good play today," Baylor head women's golf coach Sylvia Ferdon said. "Our first round was great. It felt as though we were spinning our wheels during the second round.

"We had too many penalties on some par-5s," Ferdon said. "We have the talent to play extremely well on this course, but it just didn't come through today."

Sophomore Jaclyn Jansen led the way for the Lady Bears, firing a 1-under (68-75=143) to finish Monday tied for 12th. Jansen trails the leader, Louisville's Laura Anderson (67-71=138), by five strokes. The Effingham, Ill., native, carded a career-low 4-under 68 in the first round and was tied for second overall heading into the second round. Jansen's 68 was the first round in the 60s of her career.

"Jaclyn struck the ball great during her first round," Ferdon said. "She's got the talent to overpower this course and the conditions were absolutely perfect for her to do so. She played to her talent level, but she didn't make some putts in the second round. I think Jaclyn is a real key to our success this year and I was very happy with her play today."

Senior Hannah Burke is tied for 28th at 3-over (72-75=147), followed by junior Morgan Chambers in 41st at 5-over (76-73=149). Chelsey Cothran is tied for 57th at 9-over (77-76=153), while freshman Melanie White shot 10-over (72-82=154) to finish the day tied for 62nd.

The final round of the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic will tee off at 9:30 a.m. CT Tuesday. Live scoring will be available online at
