Sept. 23, 2008
Highlands Ranch, Colo. - The Baylor women's golf team carded a 13-over, 301 during the second round of the Ron Moore Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon to move into eighth place heading into the third and final round of play Wednesday morning. The Bears took advantage of an early morning tee time and light wind to improve its first round score by 10 strokes. "I thought the girls came out and played really well today. After a rough start yesterday, I felt that they really rose to the occasion," said head coach Sylvia Ferdon. "We just need to work on finishing strong those final few holes. If we can do that, I think we have a good shot of moving up a few spots tomorrow." Hannah Burke continued her mainstay in the top 20, with a second round 74. Burke, who is looking to finish amongst the top 15 for the second straight tournament, currently sits tied for 12th place headed into the final 18 holes Wednesday. After two rounds, freshman Jaclyn Jansen is currently in a tie for 30th place overall. Jansen tallied a second round 76 for Baylor on Tuesday. After shooting a 9-over 81 during the first round, Morgan Chambers rebounded with a 2-over par 74 to sit at 155 overall. For the tournament, Lene Hafsten-Morch is one shot back of Chambers after her second round 77. The University of Denver continues to lead the invitational with a 3-under par during the first 36 holes.
