Women's Golf Ties For 7th at Ron Moore Intercollegiate

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. - Led by a third round, 3-under par 69 by Hannah Burke, the Baylor women's golf team tied for seventh overall at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate in Highlands Ranch, Colo. following a third round 301. Baylor finished the 72-hole invitational with a three-round total of 916 (311-301-304), ahead of Big 12 foes Iowa State and Oklahoma. Burke, a junior from Hertfordshire, England, birdied her first four holes and finished 1-under on the back nine to earn eighth place overall with a three-day total of 217 (74-74-69). Her third round score of 69 was a season low for the Baylor Bear junior. It is the ninth time in Burke's collegiate career that she has finished in the top ten in a tournament. Baylor's Lene Hafsten-Morch and Natalie Hocott wrapped up the final 18 with a 5-over 77 to finish tied for 33rd place overall with a total score of 233. After a double-bogey to open the third round, Hocott, competing as an individual, tallied two birdies late in her round to finish strong. Jaclyn Jansen, a freshman from Effingham, Ill., finished tied for 45th registering a total score of 235. Also competing for Baylor were sophomores Morgan Chambers and Jordan Rhodes. Chambers tallied a three-round 239 (81-74-84) to finish 56th, while Rhodes wrapped up the tournament with a 240 (80-83-77). No. 11 University of Denver won the tournament, finishing at 11-under par over the course of 72 holes (287-286-280).
The Baylor women's golf team will next hit the links Oct. 6, when the Bears travel to Lubbock, Texas, to compete in the Jeannie McHaney/Audrey Morehead Invitational.
