Oklahoma State shot a final-round 299 Tuesday and held off a hard-charging Missouri team to win the fifth annual Big 12 Women's Golf Fall Preview at Ridgewood Country Club in Waco, Texas.
The Cowgirls, led by Big 12 Preview defending champion Maria Boden, finished with a three-round 895, four strokes ahead of Missouri. The Tigers shot a third-round 292 Tuesday and finished second at 899. Boden finished third individually with a 219 after shooting a final-round par 72 Tuesday.
Missouri was led by the 2000 Big 12 individual champion, Amelia Moses, who lost individual medalist honors in a sudden death playoff. Texas Tech sophomore Melanie Hunt won the playoff and the individual title. Hunt and Moses were even through three rounds at 216, and Hunt won the playoff with a par 4 on Hole No. 1. Moses bogeyed the hole to finish second.
Host Baylor shot a final-round 298 Tuesday to jump to fifth in the team standings. Trailing Oklahoma State and Missouri were Texas and Oklahoma, tied for third at 904. Baylor finished with a 909.
Baylor was led individually by true freshman Michaelyn Morgan, who fired a two-under-par 70 in Tuesday's final round. Morgan finished at 222 (77-75-70) and tied at fourth. Sophomore Melanie Hagewood shot a third-round 74 and finished in a seventh-place tie at 224.
Eight of the 12 schools are currently ranked among the nation's top 35 teams according to the latest Golfweek/Sagarin poll (Nos. 8 Texas, 21 Oklahoma, 24 Nebraska, 26 Missouri, 28 Baylor, 29 Texas Tech, 32 Kansas State, 34 Texas A&M).
Ridgewood Country Club is a 5,991-yard, par 72 course situated near Lake Waco.
