Baylor's women's golf team is currently in second place after shooting a 304 on Monday. This was the first of three rounds of play at New Mexico State's Price's Give 'Em Five Intercollegiate. The tournament is being played at the New Mexico State Golf Course (par 72) in Las Cruces.
The Bears, ranked ninth nationally by Golfstat, are led by senior Melanie Hagewood who is currently tied for second place after shooting a first-round 1-over par (73).
Junior Michaelyn Morgan who carded a 7-over par is currently tied for 11th place. Junior Kelli McKandless came in tied for 25th place after the first round of play shooting a 77. Senior Hanna Sofia Svenningsson shot a first-round 79 putting her tied for 36th place.
Rounding out the scoring for the Bears is freshman Josefin Svenningsson who is tied for 93rd after posting 86. Freshman Erin Bradford entered as an individual and shot 80 giving her the tie for 48th place.
New Mexico currently holds first place (299) followed by Baylor (304), New Mexico State and Arkansas-Little Rock (305) and San Jose State (308) rounded out the top five finishers of today's play.
The Bears are set to play the second round of the 54-hole tournament on Tuesday. Baylor Women's golfers are coming off a ninth place finish at the Comcast Dick McGuire Invitational hosted by New Mexico.
