Tar Heel Invitational Day Two Results
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Baylor women’s golf team remained in second place after shooting a 15-over-par 303 in Saturday’s second round at the 37th annual Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational.
Baylor entered the day just two strokes back of the lead, and the four counted scores were only 2-over at the turn, with Lauren Taylor, Hayley Davis and Annette Lyche all taking the turn at ever-par 36 and Kaylin Terry at 2-over 38. The Lady Bears combined to shoot 13-over par on the back nine.
“I’m disappointed in our back nine play today, but we are going to play some inspired golf tomorrow,” head coach Jay Goble said. “We’re looking forward to a better day.”
Baylor (+15; 288-303=591) trails North Carolina (+5; 288-293=581) by 10 strokes. Florida (+17; 301-292=593) follows closely behind in third place, and North Carolina State (+19; 300-295=595) and Virginia (+19; 286-309=595) round out the top five.
Davis (-4; 67-73=140) had a two-stroke lead after Friday’s opening round, and she stayed atop the leaderboard despite shooting a 1-over 73. Florida’s Isabelle Lendl (-3; 70-71=141) is one stroke back of Davis in second place.
“Hayley played very solid again today,” Goble said. “She did not make many putts, but I believe she will tomorrow.”
Taylor (+1; 72-73=145) is tied for seventh place overall, while Lyche (+7; 74-77=151) is tied for 36th place. Terry (+11; 75-80=155) and Emma Carberry (+17; 80-81=161) finished day two tied 55th and 83rd place, respectively.
Sunday’s championship round begins with an 8 a.m. CT shotgun start. Live stats are available through www.GolfStat.com.
