CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -
The Baylor women's golf team placed 18th at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational after shooting 11-over-par 299 in Sunday's final round at the UNC Finley Golf Course. Baylor finished the 54-hole tournament at 44-over-par 908.

Laura Lonardi tied for 27th place after shooting even-par 72 in the final round to finish at 4-over 220 for the tournament. Natalia Perez shot 1-over par 73 on Sunday to finish with a final score of 12-over 228, placing her in a tie for 64th place.

Hayley Davis and Maggie Beth Byers both finished at 19-over 235. Byers shot 1-over 73 and Davis shot 9-over 81 in Sunday's final round. Emma Carberry shot 14-over 86 to contribute to her final score of 23-over 239.

HIGHLIGHTS
• Perez had back-to-back birdies on the third and fourth holes.
• Perez and Byers each had three birdies in Sunday's final round, while Lonardi had two and Davis had one.
• Baylor posted its best score of the tournament in the final round, shooting 11-over 299 after carding a 16-over 304 on Friday and a 17-over 305 on Saturday.
• Lonardi's even-par 72 on Sunday was the best round by a BU player in the tournament. She posted three of Baylor's best seven rounds in the tournament.
• Lonardi's birdies came on the seventh and 15th holes. She was one of just five players to make birdie on No. 15 in the final round and one of just nine to make birdie on No. 7.

"Today we saw some very good things from three of our players," head coach Jay Goble said. "Laura shot 72 today after she spent half the night up with food poisoning. It was a very impressive round. Natalia and Maggie both shot 73 and played very solid rounds. Our upper classmen played badly this week, but I know they are fighters and they will be back."
