LAS CRUSES, N.M- The Bears completed the third round of the tournament today finishing in 11th. The tournament was hosted by New Mexico State University at the 6,319-yard 72-par NMSU Course. The Bears finished 11th carding a 921 after three rounds of play (308-305-308).
Senior Josefin Svenningsson (Gislaved, Sweden) tied for 23rd after shooting a 76 to complete the tournament with a 227, while teammate senior Meredith Jones (Eugene, Ore.) jumped from 45th to tie for 29th carding a 74 in the third round (228).
Allison Martin (Bakersfield, Calif.) ended the tournament with 229 (76-73-80) to finish tied for 33rd. Junior Anna Rehnholm (Karlskrona, Sweden) concluded the tournament tied for 79th carding a 79 in the final round. Rounding out the day for the Bears senior Sherry Summers (Montgomery, Texas) shot a 245 (84-82-79) tying her for 94th.
Missouri shot 891 (300-292-299) to take the overall team title by only two strokes over host New Mexico State (305-293-295=893) and New Mexico (269-295-302=893). New Mexico's Mikaela Backstedt (213) lead all three rounds to take the individual title, while San Francisco's Jessica Potter took second (69-72-72).
The Bears will continue play at the Kent Youel Invitational in Honolulu, Hawaii November 2.
