CHULA VISTA, Calif. - The Baylor women's golf team fired a 3-over 291 and leads by seven shots after the first day of the Aztec Fall Invitational hosted by San Diego State at the 6,262-yard, par-72 Auld Course Monday. Teams were unable to complete the second round of play because of darkness.
Freshman Sian Reddick (Folkestone, England) is tied for the tournament individual lead with UAB's Brooke Mangan at 2-under par 70. Reddick opened the day with rounds of 34 and 36.
Sophomore Anna Rehnholm (Karlskrona, Sweden) carded one eagle in the first round of play to finish tied for fifth with a score of 72. Junior Meredith Jones (Eugene, Ore.) is tied for 12th at 2-over 74. Juniors Josefin Svenningsson (Gislaved, Sweden) and Sherry Summers (Montgomery, Texas) are tied for 14th. Freshman Stephanie Waters (Austin, Texas), competing as an individual, tied for 60th at 80.
Boise State, San Francisco and Northern Arizona are tied for second at 298, seven shots behind Baylor. Long Beach State is fifth with 300, and host San Diego is tied for sixth with UAB at 304. BYU's Rachel Newren and Northern Arizona's Tiina-M. Peltokoski are in third, one shot ahead of Reddick and Mangan.
The second round will be completed Tuesday morning with the third and final round following.
