The Baylor women's golf team claimed the team title by 11 shots with a 590 (291-299) at the Aztec Fall Invitational hosted by San Diego State at the 6,262-yard, par-72 Auld Course Tuesday. Teams completed the suspended second round of play this morning, but rain caused the third and final round to be canceled.
Baylor Freshman Sian Reddick's (Folkestone, England) score of 141 (70-71) led Baylor to the team title. Reddick (3-under, 141) finished second among individuals, one stroke behind the individual champion Laura Leuthke 140 (72-68) of Fresno State.
Sophomore Anna Rehnholm (Karlskrona, Sweden) tied for seventh at 147 (72-75). Junior Meredith Jones (Eugene, Ore.) tied for 14th with a score of 150 (74-76). Junior Sherry Summers (Montgomery, Texas) tied for 23rd with a 152 (75-77), and junior Josefin Svenningsson (Gislaved, Sweden) tied for 32nd with a 155 (75-80). Freshman Stephanie Waters (Austin, Texas) played as an individual and tied for 73rd with a 165 (80-85).
Northern Arizona (298-303=601) and Long Beach State (300-301=601) tied for second, 11 shots back of Baylor. UAB's Brooke Mangan finished third with a score of 1-over 145 (70-75). Host San Diego finished ninth with a score of 614 (304-310).
The second round was suspended Monday but completed this morning. The third and final round of the tournament was canceled because of rain.
The Bears return to action in their last tournament of the fall at Ross Resorts Invitational Nov. 1-2 in Southern Pines, N.C.
