PINEHURST, NC - The Pinehurst Challenge, originally slated for Mar. 2-3 at Pinehurst #6, in Pinehurst, NC, has been cancelled due to inclement weather. The Baylor women's golf team, as well as 19 other teams, were scheduled to participate at the par-71 5,967-yard course.
The decision to cancel the 36-hole event was made after snow and ice blanketed the area yesterday evening. It was determined that the course would not be playable Monday with temperatures hovering all day around freezing and no chance for the snow and ice to melt.
Officials decided that the course would not be ready Tuesday as well due to temperatures dropping to the teens later on this evening and not reaching above freezing until that afternoon.
Baylor will be back in action March 16-17 as they host the Baylor Invitational at Twin Rivers Golf Course.
