Live Scoring for SunTrust Gator Women's Invitational


GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The 14th-ranked Baylor women’s golf team returns to the links March 16-18 for the SunTrust Gator Women’s Invitational. Baylor enters this weekend’s tournament with its highest Golfstat ranking of the Jay Goble era.


Goble returns to Florida for the first time as Baylor head coach. Prior to his move to Baylor, Goble was a women’s golf assistant coach at Florida, leading the Gators to postseason play in each of three seasons.


The 54-hole tournament, hosted by Florida, will consist of 18 holes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the par-70, 6,002-yard course at Mark Bostic Golf Club. Friday and Saturday rounds will begin with 7:51 a.m. CDT tee times, while Sunday’s final round will begin with a 7:30 a.m. CDT shotgun start. Eleven of the 17 teams are rated in the Top 40 of the Golfstat standings, while six teams are rated in the Top 20. Live scoring for all three rounds will be available at www.GolfStat.com.


Baylor freshman Hayley Davis is ranked seventh nationally by Golfstat, while senior Chelsey Cothran is 18th overall. Davis leads the Lady Bears in stroke average (72.11), score vs. par (-0.06) and rounds of par or better. Both Davis and Cothran have posted five top-10 finishes this season. Cothran ranks second behind Davis in all three major categories.


Joining Davis and Cothran in the lineup are seniors Valerie Sternebeck and Jaclyn Jansen and freshman Stani Schiavone. Cothran, Davis and Sternebeck have competed in each of Baylor’s first seven events this season.


In Baylor’s last tournament, the Lady Bears finished fifth at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate, which included nine teams ranked in the Top 20. Cothran tied for ninth overall, while Davis finished 11th. Sternebeck posted her third top-20 finish, tying for 16th.


After the SunTrust Gator Women’s Invitational, Baylor will travel to Oxford, Miss., for the Rebel Intercollegiate, which will be held April 6-8.
