IRVING, Texas - Baylor's Hayley Davis and Emma Carberry were named to the Academic All-Big 12 women's golf team, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. Davis picked up first-team honors, while Carberry was named to the second team.

Baylor has had a total of 40 Academic All-Big 12 selections, and BU has placed at least one student-athlete on an Academic All-Big 12 team in nine consecutive seasons.

Davis, an outdoor recreation major from Wimborne, England, leads the Lady Bears with a 72.56 stroke average and is ranked No. 21 nationally in the latest GolfStat rankings. She has finished in the top 10 individually in seven of nine tournaments this season, including her first career tournament title at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate.

Carberry is third on the team with a 75.22 stroke average and is ranked No. 199 nationally by GolfStat. A sophomore prebusiness major from Hailsham, England, she has four top-25 finishes in nine tournaments this season, including a fourth-place finish that helped Baylor win the Hurricane Invitatational in February.

Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services, the Academic All-Big 12 women's golf team consisted of 28 first-team honorees and five second-team selections. First team members have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while second team honorees hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence, and seniors who have participated for at least two year are exempt from the participation requirement.

Carberry and Davis were the only players on the Baylor team who were eligible to receive Academic All-Big 12 honors, as the remaining team members either didn't meet participation requirements or are in their first year of academic residence.

Baylor, which is ranked No. 24 nationally, has completed its regular season and returns to action in the Big 12 Conference Championship, which runs April 19-21 at The Harvester Golf Club and Ames, Iowa.
