Women's Golf Prepares for Big 12 Championship

The Baylor women's golf team travels to Stillwater, Okla. for the 2008 Big 12 Championship at Karsten Creek Golf Club.

Coach Sylvia Ferdon takes a youthful team into the Championship. The five player lineup includes four underclassmen and one senior. Freshmen Morgan Chambers and Jordan Rhodes along with sophomore Kristen Hendrix will be making their first appearance at the event. They will be accompanied by 2007 All-Big 12 Tournament honoree Hannah Burke and 2005 All-Big 12 Tournament honoree Sian Reddick.

The tournament hosts a competitive 12-team field featuring six teams ranked amoung Golfweek's top 50 including Oklahoma State (9), Texas (21), Texas A&M (22), Oklahoma (41), Texas Tech (47) and Missouri (50).

The Bears are coming off their best performance of the spring, finishing seventh at the Susie- Maxwell Berning Classic. Freshman Morgan Chambers finished 10th to lead the Bears in a career best performance.

BU finished third at the 2007 Big 12 Women's Golf Championship. Anna Rehnholm finished eighth, while three other Bears finished in the top-15.
