2012 NGCA Division I Golf Awards Release

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Baylor freshman women’s golfer Hayley Davis was named a second-team All-American by the National Golf Coaches Association, the organization announced late Friday night. Davis became the first All-American in program history.

One of Baylor’s two 2012 All-Big 12 performers, posted a single-season program record with a 73.08 scoring average in 37 rounds. The Wimborne, England, native finished 11th or better in 11 of Baylor’s 12 tournaments in 2011-12, including nine top-10 finishes.

Davis opened her freshman season with back-to-back second-place finishes, earning Big 12 Women’s Golfer of the Month honors for September. She also led the Lady Bears in score vs. par (1.16) and rounds of par or better (15). Nearly 92 percent of Davis’ 37 rounds counted towards the team score (34 of 37 rounds).

She led Baylor to a program-best third-place finish at the Big 12 Championship, a fifth-place finish at the NCAA West Regional and just its second NCAA Championship appearance in program history. Davis earned Big 12 All-Tournament (with Chelsey Cothran) and NGCA All-West Region distinction (with Jaclyn Jansen).

Davis was one of six Big 12 golfers to earn NGCA All-American honors – Chirapat Jao-Javanil, Oklahoma (first team); Katerina Ruzickova, Texas A&M (second team); Kelsey Vines, Oklahoma State (second team); Gabriella Dominguez and Kimberly Kaufman, Texas Tech (honorable mention).
