Women's Golf 9th After Day One Of Ron Moore Intercollegiate

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. - The Baylor women's golf team shot a 23-over par, 311 to land in ninth place after the first round of the 2008 Ron Moore Intercollegiate Monday afternoon. Hannah Burke, a junior from Hertfordshire, England, birdied the 18th hole to head into the clubhouse as the top Lady Bear with a two-over par 74. Burke currently sits seven shots back off individual leader, Stephanie Sherlock from the University of Denver. No. 11 Denver leads the 13-team field as the defending Sun Belt champions carded a first round 287 at the Highlands Ranch Golf Club. Freshman Jaclyn Jansen turned in the second best performance for the Bears during the first round, tying for 31st. Jansen notched birdies on both the ninth and 11th holes, finishing with a first-day six-over 78. Lene Hafsten-Morch sits one shot back of Jansen after tallying a 79 during the first 18 holes. Other golfers in action for the Bears were sophomores Jordan Rhodes and Morgan Chambers. Rhodes shot an eight-over 80, while Chambers finished day one with an 81. Competing as an individual, Natalie Hocott currently sits in a tie for 24th after her five-over 77. Baylor will begin round two of the Ron Moore Intercollegiate tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. MDT.
