Junior Allison Martin leads the Bears at the Price's Intercollegiate.
LAS CRUSES, N.M- The Price's "Give `Em Five" Tournament got off to a slow start today due to several delays. The tournament is being hosted by New Mexico State University at the 6,319-yard 72-par NMSU Course. The Bears finished 11th carding a 308 in the first round and concluding the day with a 305 (613).
Allison Martin (Bakersfield, Calif.) ended the day tied for 14th with a total of 613 (76-73) to lead the Bears. Senior Josefin Svenningsson (Gislaved, Sweden) shot a 151 (76-75) to tie for 25th, while senior Meredith Jones (Eugene, Ore.) finished tied for 45th (78-76).
Junior Anna Rehnholm (Karlskrona, Sweden) finished the day tied for 70th carding a 78 in round one and 81 in the second. Rounding out the day for the Bears junior Sherry Summers (Montgomery, Texas) shot a 166 (84-82) tying her for 101st.
New Mexico shot a 591 (296-295) to lead the overall team standings by only one stroke over Missouri (300-292=592). New Mexico's Mikaela Backstedt (140) and Missouri's Denise K. Munzlinger (140) shot four under par and lead the individual standings, while San Francisco's Jessica Potter is currently in third with 141.
The tournament will continue tomorrow with the final round beginning at 8:00 a.m. The results will be posted at www.baylorbears.com.
